"It Starts Here!" Your journey as a public works professional had to start somewhere, as will your journey as a chapter leader for APWA. The biennial Chapter Leaders Training workshop is where chapter leaders come together to learn about APWA, network with counterparts from all over North America, and learn techniques and tips for recruiting, retaining, motivating and engaging members. The two-day session allows chapter leaders to immerse themselves in all aspects of APWA, which will help make your volunteer work more productive.
This year’s guest speaker, Lowell Aplebaum, CAE, works with associations on value-focused approaches to strategy development, membership and volunteer management. His work with associations has spanned five continents, hundreds of volunteer groups and all 50 U.S. states. Additionally, APWA staff will lead workshop sessions designed to get you started on your journey with key chapter resources, programs, and APWA structure.
Be sure to take advantage of the several networking opportunities available during the week. You and your colleagues can share your stories and bring new insights to improving capacity-building efforts and acquiring powerful tools for managing chapter growth and success. This program won’t leave you perplexed. It’s a solid investment for your chapter and for you.
