Calculating Concrete and Asphalt
This course is designed for individuals who are interested in brushing up on their math skills. It provides in-depth instruction and hands-on training for calculating volume and area, as needed to determine the amount of concrete or asphalt needed to pave a given area (such as a driveway or parking lot).
After completing this course, participants will be better able to:
- Identify the terminology and formulas that are used when calculating area and volume.
- Calculate how many CUBIC YARDS of CONCRETE would be needed to pave a given area, such as a driveway or parking lot.
- Calculate how many TONS of ASPHALT would be needed to pave a given area, such as a driveway or parking lot.
- Explain the necessity for converting cubic feet to cubic yards (concrete) and pounds to tons (asphalt).
Built for chapters and agencies, the Public WorksShop Kit is a complete package of program materials for use by the chapter’s or agency’s selected facilitator. The chapter or agency has unlimited access to the kit and may offer their participants CEU credits. Material is delivered for download online, via the APWA eLearning Portal.
