Construction Inspection - Project Communication Challenges
There are many challenges to managing contractor relations, such as dealing with difficult personalities, resolving conflicts, managing partnerships, managing public agency and employer relations, handling the public and providing customer service. To avoid any uncertainty on the public agency’s part, the public works construction inspector should maintain an impersonal relationship with the contractor while at the same time being courteous, steadfast and fair. If possible, the inspector should always try to deal directly with the contractor, try their best to cooperate with and understand any problems and notifications the contractor might encounter, and settle disputes immediately. This course explores ways to foster a successful working partnership with a contractor.
