U.S. Infrastructure Law: Resources for Public Works

Understand the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and learn how to access federal funding.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), was passed into law in November 2021 with APWA's strong support. The IIJA is a historic investment in our nation's infrastructure: $1.2 trillion over five years, including $550 billion in new federal spending. Grants, loans, and other forms of assistance will be distributed by numerous federal agencies to assist with projects in areas including transportation, water/wastewater, emergency management, resiliency, cybersecurity, and more. New programs will be executed through agency rulemaking procedures, and existing programs will receive increased funding.

APWA has collected the following resources and information to help ensure public works professionals have the tools necessary to be informed and to access this federal assistance. This page will be updated regularly as implementation of the IIJA continues and APWA develops new educational resources. Check back frequently to stay in the know!
