APWA Disaster Relief Outline for Chapters and Branches

  • Facilitate the collection and delivery (to a public agency for the benefit of public works employees): items of necessity such as food, water, personal hygiene items, clothing, blankets or cleaning supplies
  • Directly purchase and donate to a public agency for the benefit of public works employees: items of necessity such as food, water, personal hygiene items, clothing, blankets or cleaning supplies.
  • Donate funds to another APWA Chapter or Branch whom in turn purchases and donates to a public agency for the benefit of public works employees: items of necessity such as food, water, personal hygiene items, clothing, blankets or cleaning supplies.
  • Donate funds to an established 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to provide disaster relief assistance. (i.e.: Red Cross, Harvesters, Salvation Army, and Feeding America)

Chapter Executive Committee approval is recommended for IRS audit purposes. Assuming the Executive Committee can meet, please record the decision in a meeting summary format.​
