What is a Click, Listen & Learn?
It is APWA’s series of live and recorded educational programs that offer CEU credits. View as a group or individually from your location, no travel required. Attend a live session and participate in polls and Q&A sessions, questions asked will be addressed during the live session. Each program is led by top experts in the field who convey new ideas, new methods, and new technologies in a one-hour time frame.
Where is it held?
Join a live session or watch a recorded session from your location via your computer, computer and telephone, or handheld device through an Internet connection. The live program is presented through a WebEx session. Participate form your location, groups can participate from any central location you designate.
Are there additional charges?
Live Sessions are open to anyone who desires to participate, and they have registered for the program prior to the program scheduled event date and time.
Only one registration per connection is required. For example, a group can participate in a room where the program is displayed on the “big screen” and audio played over a speaker system from a single registrant’s computer. If there are several individuals in the same office but participating from their own computer or device (multiple connections) then each one of them will need to register.
Fees for the live sessions are:
• Members: $0.00
• Non-members: $99.00
Note: There may be a charge for joining the audio portion with a telephone. There is no 800 number for joining telephone audio.
• Recorded Sessions are available for APWA members only through our online Members’ Library free of charge.
Can the audience ask a question?
We welcome and encourage participant questions. Questions can be submitted through use of the Chat Pod (box) during the live program. The questions will be answered during the Q&A portion of the program. Additionally, the interactive polling questions asked throughout the program will give you an idea of how your peers throughout North America are responding to the same issues facing you.
Should I encourage all staff to attend?
Absolutely! The true benefit of this medium is that you can gather office and field personnel together in one spot so that all information is heard and understood uniformly. Post program discussions are encouraged to determine how the lessons learned during the program can apply to your city or agency.
Do I need to involve my IT Department?
Not necessarily. An Internet connection is required, and you will be joining the program via a WebEx session. Complete connection instructions will be sent to you via email approximately a week in advance of the program. Test your equipment before the program. Using the test will allow you to test your audio and indicate if there are any issues your IT Department might need to resolve.
Where does the content for Click, Listen & Learn programs come from?
The Click, Listen and Learn program content is developed by the APWA Technical Committees (Asset Management, Emergency Management, Engineering & Technology, Facilities & Grounds, Fleet Services, Leadership & Management, Solid Waste Management, Transportation, Utility & Public Right-of-Way and Water Resources Management.) Program topics vary, but typically focus on relevant public works topics with universal and practical applications, for example: new technologies, and/or ideas on how to improve agency practices.
