• EPA is proposing a National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) and health-based maximum contaminant level goals (MCLG) for four PFAS (PFHxS, HFPO-DA, PFNA, and PFBS) and their mixtures as well as for PFOA and PFOS;
  • The levels are the lowest one can reliably measure in a laboratory setting;
  • Testing, combined with the cost of additional treatment and disposal, will overwhelm budgets for water systems given current levels of federal funding;
  • APWA is asking members to submit comments regarding these proposed levels to urge EPA to conduct a fuller analysis that captures the actual cost of compliance and better informs relief necessary from the federal government;
  • Click here for a draft e-letter, which you can edit to incorporate your experience with addressing PFAS in water or submit as is;
  • Comments are due May 30 and members are encouraged to share with other public works professionals so they can advocate, too.
