Asset Management
The qualification basis for a committee member is asset management experience from both large- and small-sized cities. In addition, the committee is looking for both senior public works leaders and emerging public works leaders.

Emergency Management
The qualification basis for an Emergency Management Committee member would be experience in mitigating, preparing, responding and recovering from all hazards (manmade and natural). The committee is also seeking advocates to promote the recognition of public works’ important role in emergency management.

Engineering and Technology
The qualification basis for an Engineering and Technology Committee member is someone who is an expert on engineering and technology aspects of bridges, sewers, water, and other public works disciplines. An ideal candidate should also be dedicated to supporting the people, agencies, and organizations that plan, build, maintain, and improve our communities via engineering and technology.

Facilities and Grounds
The qualification basis for a Facilities and Grounds Committee member is a member who appreciates the importance of public buildings, parks, and public spaces in communities. An ideal committee member should have expertise in building security, life safety systems, as well as building operating systems. It is also recommended that geographical location of committee members be considered in the appointment process and be representative of APWA’s broad membership and currently engaged in facilities management and grounds and/or urban forestry.
Every effort will be made to appoint a minimum of two members from each of the following groups within APWA: member active in facilities management, member active in grounds and/or urban forestry, and a Young Professional.

Fleet Management
The qualification basis for a Fleet Management Committee member would preferably be someone with a Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) credential. The candidate should have a track record of displaying excellence in public fleet. Additionally, the candidate should be an expert in public fleet management, maintenance, sustainability, and disposal of public fleet assets and equipment. One member will be appointed by the President-Elect to serve as the liaison to the APWA Certification Council.

Leadership and Management
The qualification basis for appointment to this committee is a member who is passionate about supporting public works leaders; from the public works director to the front-line worker. The member should be an expert in public works management concepts and be able to adapt those practices to multiple disciplines within public works.

Solid Waste Management
The qualification basis for a Solid Waste Management Committee member is someone who seeks to provide professional knowledge to those that are responsible for the collection, transfer, processing and/or disposal of solid waste. A committee member should not only be an expert in these fields, he/she should be an expert in management plans, material supply, and safety. Additionally, a committee member should be ardent about sharing expertise to better communities.

Transportation
The qualification basis for a committee member is to be an expert in transportation. An ideal candidate would have experience in one or more of the following areas: connected and automated vehicles, federal transportation, road safety, sustainable transportation and winter maintenance.

Utilities and Public Rights-of-Way
The qualification basis for an UPROW Committee member should be an expert on utilities and public rights-of-way. An ideal candidate would have experience in new technology, fiber installation, and small cell installation.

Water Resources Management
Water resources includes drinking water, wastewater, reuse and stormwater. An ideal candidate would have experience in two or more of these areas. A candidate with the Certified Stormwater Manager (CSM) would be valued.
