CPWP-S: Eligibility and Verification

To demonstrate eligibility, candidates must submit an application documenting the completion of the following requirements.

• Completion of one of the following education and work experience pathways:
  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in public works
  • High school graduation or equivalent, one year experience in public works and completion of an APWA Public Works Institute
• Cover letter explaining why the individual is seeking the certification
• Complete resume/description of relevant public works experience
• Agreement in writing to adhere to the APWA Standards of Professional Conduct

Eligibility Application Fee

APWA Members: $95 USD
Non-members: $145 USD

An invoice will be generated upon receipt of the application.

Eligibility Application Form

Complete and save the Eligibility Application. Print and mail with payment to the address noted on the form, or email the digital version to the email address noted on the form.

APWA Verification

• Applications are approved within 14 business days of receipt
• Eligibility must be approved 30 days prior to scheduled exam
• Candidates have two years to sit for the examination
