Check out APWA's Public Policy Priorities for the 118th Congress
The 118th Congress convened on January 3, 2023 and is now live! To coincide with the start of a new Congress every two years, APWA surveys its membership to find out what is on the minds of public works professionals and reviews and establishes its official Public Policy Priorities based on those responses. The priority areas have not changed from the 117th Congress and remain Transportation, Emergency Management, and Water Resiliency.
The APWA Government Affairs Team, and members of the Government Affairs Committee, in particular, are tasked with advocating on behalf of APWA members to Congress, federal agencies, and the media to both raise awareness of, and promote, these critical priorities. Of special importance due to its ongoing implementation is of course the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The Government Affairs team continues to place special importance on this law and is working to ensure it is implemented to the benefit of American infrastructure and public works professionals. Be sure to read the Washington Report; it is sent every Monday when Congress is in session and contains important legislative and regulatory updates about matters affecting public works.
