EPA Officially Publishes Model Recycling Program Toolkit
Coinciding with its announcement of requests for applications for the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) and Education and Outreach Grant Programs, the Environmental Protection Agency has also officially published a Model Recycling Program Toolkit.
The Save Our Seas 2.0 Act, which established both grant programs, also directed the EPA to establish a Model Recycling Program Toolkit for all relevant stakeholders. Materials included in the toolkit are intended to help states, territories, local governments, nonprofit organizations, tribes, schools, and other entities create effective programs for recycling, composting, reuse, repair, and waste reduction. The stated goal is that through increased awareness via the toolkit, communities can increase their participation in recycling programs and work to further reduce contamination in the recycling stream.
