Indiana U.S. Rep. Walorski Dies in Crash

U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, 58, a five-term Republican lawmaker from Jimtown, Ind., died in an automobile accident Wednesday that also claimed the lives of her district and communications directors.

Walorski served as the ranking member of the House Ethics Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support, she also was a member of Ways and Means’ Subcommittee on Oversight. First elected in 2012, the lawmaker previously worked on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, the House Budget Committee, and the House Agriculture Committee.

The Congresswoman’s office announced the deaths of District Director Zachery Potts, 27, and Communications Director Emma Thomson, 28. “They were the epitome of public servants who cared deeply about the work they performed," the statement said.
