A message from APWA Leadership on the recent U.S. tornado outbreak:

The American Public Works Association shares the concerns of our members and the public regarding this weekend's tornado outbreak that is affecting communities in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. On behalf of the APWA Board of Directors, members, and staff, our thoughts go out to those who are dealing with the localized response, and to those who were in the path of these tornadoes. When disasters hit, we band together to assist one another.

In this spirit, APWA offers the following links and resources to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance, the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance (Disaster and Recovery), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Emergency Preparedness), the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), and the American Red Cross. We know safety is always your highest priority, and that you take very seriously the responsibilities of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts upon which your communities depend.

The American Red Cross has launched a massive response to these devastating storms and needs financial donations to be able to provide immediate disaster relief. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from this disaster. To make a financial donation or schedule an appointment to give blood or platelets, visit the Red Cross website below or call 1-800-RED CROSS. You can also use the Red Cross Blood Donor app or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 gift today. Every single contribution matters. If you are in a position to be able to help, we ask that you consider donating to assist those affected.

Stay safe!
