September Marks "National Preparedness Month"

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designates September as “National Preparedness Month”, the theme for 2021 is “Prepare to Protect”. While preparing for disasters is a year-round job, during September increased emphasis is placed on highlighting and implementing steps to mitigate and prepare disasters.

Each week during the month includes a special theme:
  • During the week of September 1-4: Make A Plan
  • During the week of September 5-11: Build A Kit
  • During the week of September 12-18: Low-Cost, No-Cost Preparedness
  • During the week of September 19-25: Teach Children about Preparedness

Later this month, FEMA is planning to offer a series of public service announcements (PSAs) geared towards family and personal preparedness efforts. To help promote this campaign, use #PreparetoProtect and #BeReady hashtags on social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn. For more information, visit FEMA's website.
