APWA announces the 2020 Public Works Projects of the Year

Each year, APWA presents the Public Works Projects of the Year awards to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects, recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant, and their cooperative achievements.

  • <$5 million: Veterans Reflection Circle (Surprise, AZ)
  • $5 million but less than $25 million: Arlington Heights Police Station (Arlington Heights, IL)
  • $25 million–$75 million: Puyallup River Bridge F16A7B Replacement (Tacoma, WA)
  • >$75 million: MAPS 3 Scissortail Park Upper (Oklahoma City, OK)


  • <$5 million: Taylor Avenue Pedestrian Underpass (Glen Ellyn, IL)
  • $5 million but less than $25 million: Granary Avenue & Laurel Street (Bellingham, WA)
  • $25 million–$75 million: SR 28 Lake Tahoe East Shore Trail (Lake Tahoe, NV)
  • >$75 million: New NY Bridge Project (New York State)
  • >$75 million: State Route 99 Tunnel (Seattle, WA)

Small Cities/Rural Communities Projects of the Year:

  • Disaster/Emergency: Downtown Flood Protection Project (Mount Vernon, WA)
  • Environment: Wisconsin Rapids West Side Pumping Station Force Main Replacement (Wisconsin Rapids, WI)
  • Historical Restoration/Preservation: Eau Claire City Hall Remodel (Eau Claire, WI)
