Emerging Leaders Academy Applications now being accepted


Applications for APWA’s 2020-2021 Emerging Leaders Academy are now available.
 
Now in its 13th year, this unique, national program features:
  • Targeted, personalized professional development.
  • A specific focus on leadership skills in the public works field.
  • Participants gain a network of some of the most talented APWA members across the country.
 
The leadership skills central to the academy complement any public works technical area or specialization and are particularly valuable for those who are new to public works. The ELA features an engaging curriculum with dynamic speakers and offers something for everyone while providing an opportunity for future leaders to get involved and excited about APWA.
 
Emerging Leaders Academy graduates have a strong history of service at the chapter, branch and national levels of APWA and represent the future vitality of the public works profession. Interested individuals should contact their chapter for more information about sponsorships and service opportunities.

‘Asset Management Demystified’ ready for Chapters
 

The Asset Management Committee recently finished a PowerPoint presentation for use by APWA chapters. 
 
The ‘Asset Management Demystified’ PowerPoint presentation is a tool to educate members on fundamental asset management concepts and benefits. The Asset Management Committee created the presentation to ensure communities are better able to align themselves with expectations by managing their assets.

APWA Town Hall Meeting up on the CLR Website


The recent APWA Chapter Leaders Town Hall Meeting is now available online. Those who were unable to attend the April 9 event can view the recorded session by going to the Chapter Leader Resources website and clicking on the Announcements section.

More than 100 APWA chapter leaders participated in the meeting. APWA President Bill Spearman, P.E., and APWA CEO Scott Grayson, CAE, discussed with the group about how APWA is being impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and addressed questions.

Membership 101 webcast now available online


The Membership 101 webcast is now available online. Any members interested in the membership process at their chapter or branch should go to the Chapter Leader Resources segment of the APWA.net website and click on Chapter Leaders Playlist to find the 2020 version of the webinar at the bottom of the page.

All things membership-related are covered in this webcast. The webinar was recorded back in January and is an excellent opportunity for chapter and branch membership chairs to learn the basics of recruiting new members and for the retention of existing members. The available tools to help in the membership effort are reviewed and various membership reports – and how to use them – are discussed at length.
