House Passes FY 2020 Spending Package

On December 17, the House passed H.R. 1865, the Domestic Spending Package and H.R. 1158, National Security Funds. The measures would fund the federal government for fiscal year (FY) 2020 and avoid a government shutdown. The current continuing resolution (CR) providing funding to the federal government expires at midnight on December 20. Once the Senate passes the bills, they will then be sent to President Trump for his signature. All actors, including Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, who has been involved in negotiations with Congress on behalf of President Trump, have stated that they do not want a government shutdown.

APWA Government Affairs will continue tracking the situation. Please check @APWAGOVAFFAIRS and APWA Advocacy News for updates.
