Networking and Training Sessions Set for PWX
 

There are a great many networking and training sessions planned for chapter leaders at PWX.

Here are just some of the education sessions of interest to chapter leaders:
 
Sunday, September 8
3:00 – 4:50 p.m.- Aspiring to Leadership in Public Works? (The Myron Calkins "Excellence in Leadership" Series Presentation) - This is a must for any public works professional who wants to move into a leadership role.
Monday, September 9
8:00 a.m. – noon - National Equipment Roadeo Events- Come out and support chapter participants in the third National APWA Equipment Roadeo.
 
5:00 - 6:15 p.m. - APWA Awards and Recognition Ceremony – Join in the celebration to recognize individuals, chapters and organizations for their outstanding contributions to public works and APWA.
 
Tuesday, September 10
9:45 - 11:00 a.m. - Great Ideas from APWA Chapters – There are great ideas coming from APWA’s 63 chapters every day. Find out which ones are the most applicable to your chapter.
 
2:00 - 2:50 p.m. – I Came Up with This - Innovations to Take Back to Work – This session is presented by APWA’s Young Professionals (YP) Committee and provides an opportunity to engage with YPs who will share their stories about how they have helped spur changes in perspective and in operational processes within their organizations.
 
2:00 - 2:50 p.m.  – Technology is your Chapter’s Friend – See how you can utilize the latest technology to communicate better with your members and to help your chapter in a litany of ways.
 
3:00 - 3:50 p.m. – Chapter Education Exchange – Share your chapter’s most successful programs and find out about other chapters’ programs.  Ask questions and learn from your peers.
 
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. - Finance Essentials for Chapter Leaders - All chapter leaders who might become a chapter treasurer, plus chapter presidents, administrators and current treasurers will want to attend this session.

The Emerging Leaders Academy provides intensive leadership and management training within the context of public works.
 
It encourages professional growth through a strong network of peers and offers an in-depth introduction to APWA at the national, chapter and branch levels.

The candidates must be professionals who have been working in the field of public works for no more than ten years or have been working for longer than ten years but have been promoted into their first leadership role within the past three years. Candidates shall have demonstrated an interest in advancing their careers within the profession.
