NEMA Releases Report on Impact of Emergency Management Grants

During the week of March 18, the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) released a report highlighting the importance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Preparedness Grants (EMPG) to local, state, territorial, and tribal governments. EMPG grants are designed to assist state and local governments in enhancing and sustaining all-hazards emergency management capabilities. Furthermore, it should be noted that for every $1 spent investing towards mitigation efforts, the rate of return on the investment is shown to be between $6-$8 dollars.

Additionally, states have the opportunity to use EMPG funds to support emergency management mission areas, while simultaneously addressing issues of national concern. To read a copy of the NEMA report, please click here.
