Congressman Walter Jones Passes Away at 76


Congressman Walter Jones, a North Carolina member of the House of Representatives, passed away on Sunday. He was 76.

Jones served in the House of Representatives for 24 years, and was reelected in November of last year. After being reelected, he stated that the 116th Congress would be his last term in the House.

Jones spent ten years as a Democrat in the North Carolina state House, and first ran for Congress in 1992 to fill the seat held by his father. Jones won election two years later after switching parties and running as a Republican.
