Chapter Leaders gather in Kansas City

A total of 149 leaders from 56 different chapters converged in Kansas City last week for the biennial Chapter Leaders Training and the Council of Chapters’ Winter Meeting.

There were 71 participants in attendance for Chapter Leaders Training only, 36 delegates and alternate delegates on hand for the Winter Council of Chapters Meeting, and 42 leaders were in town for both the Chapter Leaders Training and the Council of Chapters’ meeting. The national Professional Development Committee and APWA board also met in conjunction with the CLT and COC meetings.

Chapter leaders were able to participate in a social event on Thursday night held in downtown Kansas City to encourage networking between chapter and branch leaders.

The next Chapter Leaders Training will be held in 2021.

National Committee Nomination Webinar set for Thursday

There will be a webinar at 2:00 p.m. (Central Time) Thursday, designed to help members understand how to become involved with APWA at the national level through the committee nomination and appointment or the national board nomination processes.

Learn how the process works, the deadlines, requirements and expectations of members, as well as what members can do at the chapter level to encourage participation.

Every APWA member has information that can be shared with their peers. Participating in a committee or serving on the board of directors is one way to share that expertise. The first step to making it happen is finding out how the process works.

To register for the webinar or for more information, contact Rhonda Wilhite at rwilhite@apwa.net.

National committee nominations are open until March 22. Information can be found at www.apwa.net/nominations.
