APWA Urges Congress to Prioritize Water Infrastructure

In a letter to Congressional leadership, the Clean Water Council (of which APWA is a member) highlighted the needs of our nation’s water infrastructure. Specifically, signatories of the letter ask for Congress to ensure investment in water infrastructure be a part of any infrastructure package.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, America’s water and wastewater needs total more than $750 billion, over the next 20 years. That amount will only maintain current levels of service for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services. Additionally, while federal regulatory requirements have increased in recent decades, funding has not.

This letter is similar to a letter APWA recently signed with over 90 water sector stakeholders, asking Congressional leadership to make the nation’s infrastructure, specifically water infrastructure, a priority.
