U.S. DOT Seeking Input on V2X Technology

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced it is seeking public comment on integrating Vehicle to Everything (V2X) technology into the transportation environment. V2X communications encompasses all Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle to Pedestrian (V2P) communications. Specifically, DOT is seeking input on the challenges associated with achieving interoperability and the use of alternative and emerging communications technologies supporting V2X.  It is believed that the technology has implications for improving road safety and efficiency as well as for continuing progress towards automated vehicles. U.S. DOT is requesting input regarding the impact of V2X in general and the role of the Department in encouraging V2X integration.
