President Signs DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Office Name Change into Law

On November 16, President Trump signed H.R. 3359, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Act of 2017, into law. In addition to changing the name of the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) to CISA, this legislation elevates the division to a headquarters function. In essence, CISA will be on par with the Secret Service, or Transportation Security Administration (TSA), within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

CISA will continue to be led by DHS Undersecretary Chris Kreps, and the agency will retain responsibility for safeguarding the nation’s infrastructure and cybersecurity. To view a summary of H.R. 3359, please click here.
