The chapter membership reports are updated automatically just before midnight on the 7th of each month.
The official overall membership total at the end of October was 29,410.
Anyone with questions can contact Rhonda Wilhite at rwilhite@apwa.net or 1-800-848-2792, ext. 5261.

Membership webcast scheduled

A Membership 101 webinar will be held at 2:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on Tuesday, January 22.
This webcast is presented each year in January, helping the new chapter and branch membership chairs navigate the Chapter Leader Resources area and helping them understand the membership-specific materials. It is also a great way for those who have been a membership chair to review some of the materials and learn about any new processes.
Those attending the webinar will learn how to find and make use of the various membership reports and hear of Best Practices from other chapters. Participants will also be able to ask questions through the one-hour program.
For more information, contact Brad Patterson at bpatterson@apwa.net or 816-595-5263 or to register, contact Rhonda Wilhite at rwilhite@apwa.net or 800-848-2792 (ex. 5261).

Registration open for Chapter Leaders Training Workshop & the Winter Council of Chapters Meeting

The biennial Chapter Leaders Training, in conjunction with the Winter Council of Chapters meeting, is scheduled for January 31-February 1, 2019 in Kansas City.
Use this link to go to the CLT page to find the registration information and a tentative agenda:  www.apwa.net/clt.
This event brings chapter leaders − including presidents, presidents-elect, treasurers, membership committee chairs and others – to Kansas City where they can interact with their peers from all over North America.
This year this two-day workshop provides chapter leaders and Council of Chapter delegates the opportunity to understand how chapters and branches work with APWA National, the services and resources available to chapters from National, and provides an excellent opportunity to network with leaders and delegates from other chapters.
As a reminder, APWA provides a $500 stipend to the chapters to help offset the cost of the delegate to attend the Council of Chapter meetings and up a to $700 stipend to the chapter to help offset the cost of sending two Chapter leaders ($350 per chapter leader). If a chapter would like to send more than two leaders there is a $200 registration fee for each person to cover food and beverage costs.
Please contact APWA at ChapterSupport@apwa.net for additional information.

Chapter Elections “How-To” tutorial available

It is that time of year when the chapter is getting ready to hold its officer elections for 2019.  The Chapter Website Template added in the spring the Election/Polling functionality to allow your chapter the capability to hold your elections online.

Click here http://www2.apwa.net/DR/index.asp?ID=8735 for a “How-To Set up your Chapter Elections” document to walk you through step-by-step for setting up your 2019 Officer Elections.
Once the election results are final, please email the list of officers to Rhonda Wilhite at rwilhite@apwa.net.

Deadline near for one APWA Award

Deadline for the Excellence in Snow and Ice Control Award is getting close.
The deadline has changed from February 1 to December 3, 2018 this year, less than three weeks away. The judging now includes some changes to accommodate a preliminary review and still be able to choose the winner(s) in February.
All other awards excluding the PACE (Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence) are due March 4, 2019. The PACE deadline will be June 3, 2019.  To qualify to submit for the PACE, a chapter that has more than 500 members needs to submit a Top Ten Public Works Leader candidate and three other award nominations of their choice. Chapters with 500 members or less need only to submit one award nomination of their choice.
If a chapter would like an example of past winning award nominations, they can be found on the Chapter Leader Resource area or contact Rhonda Wilhite at rwilhite@apwa.net for samples.
