Senate Passes NFIP Extension
On Wednesday, July 11, 2018 the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly passed a yet to be numbered bill introduced by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), by a vote of 95-4, to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the rest of this calendar year. The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2874, the 21st Century Flood Reform Act, last fall which would extend the program through September 30, 2022. To view text of H.R. 2874 – click here

The Senate and House will need to work out the differences in the bills in order to move forward on re-authorizing NFIP. Without Congressional action, NFIP is currently set to expire July 31, 2018.
