APWA Joins Letter on Army Corps Coordination

APWA has sent a letter to Congressional leaders calling for support of greater coordination between local governments and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Seven other national water associations also signed the letter, which was addressed to leaders of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and Senate Environment & Public Works Committee.

The letter calls for the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) legislation currently being worked on by Congress to include language to improve water resource management through increased coordination between local entities and USACE. The language requested was included in the 2016 WRDA bill, but was cut on procedural grounds.
