Government Affairs Committee Holds Annual Meeting in D.C. This Week
On February 6-9, APWA’s Government Affairs Committee (GAC) will be in Washington D.C. for their annual spring meeting. During the GAC meeting, the 12 members of the committee, and Board liaison Jill Marilley, Executive Director Scott Grayson, and the APWA Government Affairs team will hold meetings with Congressional members and staff, as well as officials from multiple federal agencies to discuss APWA’s public policy priorities
. These public policy priorities are:
Infrastructure Financing & Funding;
Provide for Transportation Infrastructure;
Support Water Resiliency, and
Recognize & Support Emergency Management & Response
The GAC will hear from federal agencies including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), FirstNet, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and US Army Corps of Engineers. Participants will also meet with Congressional staff from the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, House and Senate Appropriations Committees, and the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
GAC members will conclude their time in Washington with a tour of the National Weather Service (NWS) headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.
