In May 2016, Representatives Ryan Costello (R-PA) and Dina Titus (D-NV) joined together and established the bipartisan House “Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus.” The Caucus was formed to raise awareness of the critical importance of public works and infrastructure investment. It is proving to be a valuable tool in educating Congressional members and staff about the important services and projects that communities across the country depend on daily—including roads and bridges, drinking water, emergency preparedness and response, flood control and stormwater, recycling, solid waste removal, parks and recreation, and public fleets and buildings.

Katherine Loughead from Representative Costello’s office spoke to APWA members during the recently held Government Affairs and Joint Technical Committees Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C. Katherine emphasized the value of the “Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus” in raising awareness and educating Congressional members about daily challenges faced by public works professionals.

The Caucus has sponsored APWA in hosting multiple issue briefs on Capitol Hill in recent months. Additionally, APWA is working with the Caucus to host a National Public Works Week event on Capitol Hill. National Public Works Week is being recognized May 21-27.

If your Representative has not yet joined the Caucus please let them know that by being a member of the Caucus we can continue to work together towards raising awareness of crucial public works services and the need for infrastructure investment. Please have your Member contact Ms. Katherine Loughead (Representative Costello) at or Mr. Ben Rosenbaum (Representative Titus) at for more information or to join the Caucus.
