APWA Weighing In to Support Municipal Bonds
Since late January, APWA and partner organizations have been reaching out to U.S. House Members requesting they sign on to a "Dear Colleague" letter supporting the protection of municipal bonds. The effort has been led by Representatives Randy Hultgren (R-IL) and Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD). In total 156 House Members, both Republicans and Democrats, signed onto the letter to show their support.
The letter has been sent to House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) urging protection of municipal bonds within the context of any future tax reform and infrastructure financing bills.
APWA members are strongly encouraged to follow up with their Representatives to thank those who have weighed in already to support municipal bonds or to speak up on behalf of this important finance tool utilized by many state and local governments across the country.
APWA members may also show their enthusiasm for municipal bonds by taking to Twitter and posting pictures of projects which utilized municipal bonds and use #BuiltByBonds, and tag their U.S. Senators and Representatives.
