Comment Period on MUTCD Pavement Marking Retroreflectivity Closes May 4

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has issued a proposed rule requesting input to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This rule is specifically requesting comments regarding amendments made to the minimum retroreflectivity levels for pavement markings on all roads open to public travel with annual daily traffic volumes over 6,000 and speed limits of 35 mph, or higher. Agencies or officials having jurisdiction would be required to develop and implement a method for maintaining pavement marking retroreflexivity at minimum levels. In response to the volume of comments previously received, FHWA has revised the proposed amendments and is issuing this supplemental notice requesting additional comments. Comments are due by May 4, 2017.
