Assistant Director of Public Utilities
The City of Chesapeake is seeking an experienced leader with a proven track record to provide senior management level staff supervision, training, analysis, planning, budget, policy and procedure development and review, special projects, and reporting. The position works within broad policy and organizational guidelines; independently plans and implements multi-million dollar projects; and reports progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings. This position also serves as acting director when the director is not present.
Qualified candidates will be certified as a Professional Engineer with eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have four or more years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of wastewater and/or water production facilities. A bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Sanitary or Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required; master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Ten to fifteen years of progressive responsibility, including two years as head of an operational group; NIMS IS-100 through 400 and BCEE certification are desired.
