Water Operations Manager

As Water Operations Manager you will lead and manage a team of over 40 members of staff comprised of field and technical employees. Your responsibilities will include leading and participating in the development and review of policies, procedures, standards, plans and programs affecting water maintenance and construction functions. You will oversee the preparation and deployment of work schedules relating to water maintenance and construction activities as well as the development, administration and control of the City’s annual Water Operations budget. You will provide direction, advice and information to contractors and developers on matters relating to City water construction and maintenance projects and programs and ensure that projects are efficiently scheduled and coordinated.
You have a thorough knowledge of Labour and WCB regulations; engineering principles and practices; Surrey policies, procedures and standards and relevant computer office applications. You will be able to establish an effective liaison with City officials, members of Council, external government bodies and the private sector as well as establish effective working relationships with staff, management, union, and the public.
You have an undergraduate degree or Diploma of Technology from a recognized university or equivalent training and/or experience and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management experience including experience at a management level in a public environment and water utility experience is required. A valid B.C. driver’s license with a clean driving history is required.
