The City of Greenwood Village invites your applicaton for the position of Transportation Planner/Engineer.  This position assists in the articulation of community values as presented in the Comprehensive Plan through effective transportation planning to ensure pedestrian and vehicular accessibility and mobility throughout the Village.


Typical Activities that Support Organizational Objectives
This professional planner/engineer is primarily responsible for all transportation planning projects throughout the Village. The position provides support to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council in making certain that the Transportation Plans are consistent with the Comprehensive plan and accurately reflect community values. The position coordinates long range transportation planning activities including data collection; policy development and analysis; participating in regional planning efforts; reviewing regional planning documents representing and advancing Village interests in regional forums; development of transit oriented development policies and strategies; coordinating access studies and reviewing traffic impact reports; and participating in neighborhood traffic planning, conceptual design, and some development review. The position prepares and submits transportation related grant applications consistent with approved plans and Village priorities and manages grants on an ongoing basis. The position may assume some duties related to land development and urban planning with regard to processing of development applications.


Qualifications
The knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are typically gained through the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, traffic engineering, or related discipline such as environmental design or public administration plus four years experience with transportation planning projects or traffic engineering projects. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the relationship between land use and transportation planning principles, the regional transportation planning process, traffic impact analysis, conceptual traffic engineering, and neighborhood traffic planning. Master’s degree in transportation planning, urban and regional planning or traffic engineering is preferred. American Institute of Certified Planners certification or possession of a Professional Engineers License is highly desirable.
