The City of Greenwood Village invites you to apply for the position of Public Works Manager - Environment.


The primary purpose of this position is to lead and manage the Environment service area in the Public Works Department to ensure clean air and water quality, safe conveyance of storm water, well maintained drainage systems and clean streets.

This position plans, leads, directs and manages activities related to drainage facilities and water quality including conducting studies, preparing designs and managing construction and maintenance activities. This is accomplished by partnering with staff, consultants and contractors.  Typical activities include performing advanced level engineering services to ensure all Village activities and projects are in compliance with appropriate codes and regulations and water quality standards are maintained, including the Village’s MS4 permit; evaluating proposed regulations related to water quality and drainage; determining impact on the organization; and making recommendations to higher level staff and elected officials. The position also provides leadership to staff including employee development, performance management and goal setting in support of the organizational goals. It is imperative for this position to establish service expectations for the service area assuring alignment with the organizational purpose, focus and values.

The knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are typically gained through the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with major coursework in Civil Engineering or a related field and four years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering and drainage management, including one year of administrative or supervisory responsibility.
