Our newest operation, the Groundwater Reduction Plan (GRP) Division, has been tasked with implementing a cost-effective and reliable solution for decreasing our community’s demand on an overwhelmed groundwater supply. As part of that solution, the GRP Division is building a 30 MGD surface water treatment plant that is scheduled to be operational in June, 2015. As part of the initial staffing of this new water treatment plant, the GRP Division is seeking to fill eight surface water treatment plant operator positions:

Utility Lead Operators: TCEQ Class “B” Surface Water Operator Certification is required. The qualified applicant should have 6 years of practical hands-on experience in surface water treatment. One year of supervisory experience is preferred. Must have technical writing and report preparation experience.

Essential duties include but not limited to: Supervise water treatment, supply and transmission systems, within the SJRA boundaries. Maintain thorough and timely communications with the Utility Operations Superintendent concerning the systems operations and personnel. Prepare and review Authority and Regulatory reports. Implement, oversee and assist in the development of the systems operations procedures that promote safe, cost-effective and efficient operation of the systems in a manner which ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations by performing all assigned duties.

Utility Senior Operator: TCEQ Class “C” Surface Water Operator Certification is required; a TCEQ Class “B” Surface Water Operator Certification is preferred. The qualified applicant should have 5 years of practical hands-on experience in surface water treatment.

Essential duties include but not limited to: Operate water treatment, supply and transmission systems, in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Perform any combination of housekeeping and grounds maintenance activities. Develop system operations procedures that promote safe, cost-effective and efficient operation of system facilities in a manner which ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare and review system data and reports for the Authority and regulatory agencies. Act as Supervisor in the absence of the Utility Lead Operator.

Utility Operators: TCEQ class “C” Operator Certification Surface Water, or Ground water with 1 year of practical hands-on experience in the surface water operations field.

Essential duties include but not limited to: Operate water treatment, supply and transmission systems in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Perform any combination of housekeeping and grounds maintenance activities that are required. Assist in the development of procedures that promote safe, cost-effective and efficient operation of system facilities. Prepare and review system data and reports for the Authority.

*Hourly operations staff will operate on a 24/7 shift when the plant goes live. Until that time, employees will be required to work a day shift from 8am to 5pm. At go-live, operators will be assigned to work twelve (12) hour shifts for three (3) consecutive days followed by three (3) days off. The following week will be twelve (12) hour shifts for four (4) consecutive days followed by four (4) days off. Day shift is 6am to 6pm or 7am to 7pm. Night shift is 6pm to 6am or 7pm to 7am.
