Administrative and professional work in the performance of a wide variety of technical and advanced engineering duties associated with the planning, design, inspection and construction of public works, utilities and transportation projects. Review and approval authority of all City infrastructure installed by developers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:

Track the general condition and operation of all municipal utilities and streets.

Prioritize capital improvement projects and provide information to Council on condition and needs.

Act as project engineer on street, utility, drainage, and traffic control jobs of varying sizes. This entails engineering calculations in the design of such projects; writing specifications, preparing contract documents; representing the City during construction and at pre-construction meetings; directing contractors, City construction personnel, inspectors and survey crews to insure that projects are completed according to City plans and specifications. Make preliminary and final cost estimates; review contractors estimates and requests for payments.

Direct the engineering studies and design work of consultants when contract work is used to expedite city capital projects.

Coordinate final inspections; reviews test analyses; monitor capital and development project schedules and warrantees. Coordinates, communicates and cooperates with all other Departments in the City to move construction/development requests through the approval/denial process.

Works collaboratively with the Community Development Department to review proposed annexation, subdivisions site plans and construction plans for compliance with appropriate City engineering codes, standards and specifications. Issues review comments/memos to assist planners, planning commission and city council in approving various development plans. Attends planning commission meetings when necessary. Oversees inspections of public infrastructure for purposes of acceptance of dedication.

Review and sign all permits for water, sewer, street, curb and gutter, and storm drainage construction; accepts or rejects variances to construction plans and issues letters of recommendation to the Public Works Director. cond't...
