POSITION: SOLID WASTE TECHNICIAN
                 SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT
                 (Position to be filled in July)

AFFILIATION: Merit

SALARY & GRADE: Starting salary not to exceed $51, 249.17; Grade 12

PRIMARY DUTIES Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the landfill gas collection system; tunes and adjusts gas wells to capture optimum gas quantities; assists with compiling information for permits and their submittal; assists with the installation of new gas collection infrastructure; communicates and coordinates continually with the vendor operating the power plant and the Department’s Environmental Engineer; monitors and evaluates when and where new gas expansion are needed; performs surface emission monitoring, groundwater and surface water sampling, landfill gas migration monitoring; works closely with the Environmental Engineer to learn all aspects of landfill operations.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience; experience/training working with a Landtec GEM 2000 landfill gas analyzer; experience/training working with PVC and HDPE piping and fittings; landfill gas management training; groundwater sampling and analysis; some construction background/training; HDPE electro fusion training/experience; must have the ability to obtain Asbestos disposal site worker certification and State of NH Landfill Operator’s License IV within 6 months of first day of employment; must have valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record; High School Diploma, plus 2-3 years of course work in Resource Management and/or Environmental Sciences; combination of experience and education will be considered.
