Hiring Range: $45,427 - $54,512 / $49,061 - $58,873
The purpose of this position is to prepare and assist in the preparation of professional civil engineering work performed in the planning, surveying, design, review, contracting, inspection, field supervision, and maintenance of multiple types of municipal engineering projects and systems. These types of systems include but are not limited to roads, sidewalks, traffic calming devices, water systems, sewer systems, stormwater conveyance systems, stormwater management systems, and wastewater treatment systems.
This position will primarily be responsible for the oversight of construction and professional services projects using AUTOCAD 3D and other software to design the work described above. Tasks include project manual preparation, estimation, field observation, contractor payments, and project close out procedures. Other duties include providing administrative or technical support to staff, attending meetings on projects with internal and external customers, and developing engineering skill sets. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a registered licensed professional.
For Both Levels
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in an Engineering Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees Valid NC Class C Driver’s License Required
For CE II Level
Work requires the preparation of professional civil engineering work performed in the design of multiple types of municipal engineering projects and systems.
CE I, Hiring Salary: $45,427 - $54,512 Less than six months of experienceProficient knowledge of Word, Excel is preferredExperience with or exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS is desirableEngineering Intern Certificate required within one year
