CITY OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT (124,893) Director of Public Works. Connecticut’s capital city is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Director to lead the Department of Public Works and manage a well-run and diverse department. The Department employs 218 staff and has a General Fund Budget of $12,959,064 for Fiscal Year 2014-2015. Successful candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or public administration, or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of increasingly responsible public works operations and management experience are required. The potential to obtain a PE within a reasonable period of time is a plus. Past experience in successfully managing public works activities such as infrastructure maintenance and enhancements of parks, roadways, traffic systems, municipal buildings, vehicles/equipment, flood control systems and the collection of solid waste and recyclables is also an important factor for the successful candidate. Direct technical experience in the areas above is also an important consideration.
