Duties:

Review roads, drainage, water quality concerns and prepare appropriate responses for the following private development processes: plats, planning and zoning cases; variance and appeal cases; subdivision construction plans; right-of-way permits; construction plans; utility permit plans; 404/wetland permits; flood hazard permits; building safety site plans; municipal construction plans; State DOTPF construction plans. Perform professional engineering review, and coordinate review by others, of construction plans and specifications submitted by various private development contractors for road design and for conveyance and treatment of storm water runoff. Investigate and respond to roads and drainage-related inquiries and complaints. Participate in the development of Private Development policies and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.

Must possess the following License and Registration by the time of hire:

  • State ofAlaskaDriver's License 
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (see notice section regarding additional compensation)

Substitution:

A Master’s Degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.


Notice:

  • If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant’s Alaska Driver’s License and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaskan driver’s license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history. The processing fee(s) are the responsibility of the selected applicant.
  • If selected for hire, will be required to submit a copy of current State ofAlaska Registered Professional Engineer Licenseand will be eligible for a 5% pay enhancement.
  • If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
  • All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.
