Job Description

Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Superintendent
Job ID: 10587

The Fleet Maintenance Superintendent oversees, supervises, and coordinates fleet maintenance activities and operations ensuring best industry practices for up to 7,100 pieces of automotive, specialized emergency and commercial equipment, supporting multiple city functions including police, fire, public works and street maintenance.  Duties include oversight for over 200 employees located at six major service centers and thirteen satellite shops around the city; responsibility for an operating budget in excess of $30 million; developing policies for fleet practices and organization of shop facilities to meet service demands; preparing budget estimates and reviewing the operation of all shop administrative activities including procurement, inventory, training, vendor contracts, and analysis and reporting.

 RECRUITMENT DATES

 SALARY

$66,518 - $99,195 annually. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Five years of experience in the supervision of maintenance and repair of automotive and mechanical equipment.
  • Three years of experience in fleet maintenance management.
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – The job requirements listed above, plus:

  • Associates Degree in Automotive or related technology
  • Experience supervising employees in a large fleet maintenance operation.
  • Experience with fleet management performance measures.
  • Fleet Management certification such as Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Automotive Fleet Supervisor (CAFS), or Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP).
  • Experience with computer software for fleet maintenance operations.
  • Experience with budgeting and accounting principles and systems.
