The Town of Castle Rock has an opportunity for a Construction Inspector to perform inspections for the Public Works department to ensure development projects comply with Town regulations regarding public safety. Performs duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization.
Responsibilities include scheduling and performing onsite inspections of utilities, roadways and structures and ensuring projects comply with Town regulations. Work includes completing daily inspection reports summarizing findings and activities and communicating orally and in writing with developers, contractors and consulting engineers regarding inspections findings and project progress. Will address areas of concern and suggests possible resolutions and approve minor field changes that won’t adversely affect the overall project design, structure, timeframe or easement/right-of-way.
Additional responsibilities include conducting pre-construction meetings and attending weekly project meetings with developers and contractors reviewing construction plans, drawings and designs. Work includes performing and overseeing required sampling and testing which may include water quality sampling and testing and sanitary/water line pressure testing. Responsible for facilitating conveyance and acceptance process. Coordinates plan review, permitting and utilities service with other Town departments. Communicates with citizens, homeowners and homeowners associations regarding construction that may impact them. Answers questions and responds to complaints and tracks project surety/bonds and contractor/developer performance.
Qualifications generally a high school graduation plus 2-3 years closely related construction experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid driver’s license required for traveling to and from onsite inspections. Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
