Environmental Compliance Coordinator

You would be responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating operations and activities to eliminate cross-connections and prevent backflow within water distribution systems, ensuring compliance with existing pretreatment and Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) programs, tariffs, rules and statutes. Coordinate and administer our programs for: Cross Connection Control (CCN), Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP), and Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM). Enforce public health regulations relating to CCN within our water distribution systems. Coordinate and conduct cross connection surveys and inspections to identify water user premises where cross connections or backflow are likely to occur. Develop and maintain an annual backflow testing and maintenance schedule and notification program; coordinate the testing, maintenance and repair of company-owned backflow prevention devices; communicate with customers to investigate devices that have failed or have not been tested; issue letters and initiate water shutoff procedures as necessary. Enforce response plans and issue permits.
Requires a BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, water related sciences, Engineering or Business Administration. Requires knowledge of and proficiency of the Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts, state and federal water regulations and water treatment functions. Also requires 5-7 years of experience in coordinating environmental-related programs and 1-3 years of experience in water quality, backflow, cross connection and/or water/wastewater operations. Must obtain Cross Connection Tester certification within three months of job appointment and Cross Connection Specialist certifications within six months of job appointment.
