THE POSITION: The City of Walnut Creek is seeking a collaborative team oriented individual to join its Engineering Division. This engineering position performs varied and complex professional civil engineering work in the design and construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects; reviews subdivision, development, site improvement, construction, land division, transportation, and other plans and applications; and performs related work as required. The majority of the Associate Engineer's work will be completed in an office environment, with occasional construction/site visits.
This is a full-time benefited limited term position. It is anticipated to be a two-year assignment ending in 2016. This position is designated as "at-will" under City rules; the incumbent will serve in an exempt status at the pleasure of the City Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering and current registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering work including engineering design, plan checking, and some supervisory and project management experience.
