Engineering Technician IV - Construction

The Snohomish County Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates to fill an Engineering Technician IV position within the Construction Team of our Engineering Services Division. The Construction Division is comprised of seventeen employees and you will be part of a highly skilled and knowledgeable team responsible for managing a $25,000,000 annual construction program, comprised of 12 to 14 rewarding projects each year

The successful candidates will be able to perform project construction engineering and inspection to as­sure conformance with plans and specifications, as well as be able to complete project documentation, construction surveying, and other related technical engineering assignments.

The Snohomish County Public Works Department is the largest department in Snohomish County government with approximately 670 employees. The Engineering Services Division has been recognized and won many awards for projects at both the state and national level. You can read more about the department and our awards at our website:

Our selection process will be:

  • On-line application and supplemental questions;
  • Applications screened for minimum qualifications;
  • Supplemental questions graded;
  • Top scores from supplemental exam will be invited to interview;
  • Reference check – if invited to an interview you will be asked to bring a list of your references including current and former supervisors and internal clients;
  • Credential verification – if invited to an interview you will be asked to provide copies of your diploma and/or certificates if you have listed on your application any education beyond high school; Criminal background check;
  • Second interview may be conducted at management's discretion.
