This is advanced technical and professional work of more than average difficulty involving a municipal public works compliance program. An employee in this class is responsible for assisting in the development and enforcement of ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to water, wastewater, stormwater management, and other issues of environmental significance.

With limited supervision, employee performs the research necessary to develop programs, procedures, and ordinance changes relating to the environmental concerns of the Public Works Department regarding water, wastewater, and stormwater programs. The employee must use tact, courtesy, initiative, independent judgment, and professionalism in dealing with the general public, civic groups and regulatory agencies. Work is reviewed through conferences and reports submitted to the Section Supervisor.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry or biology, or other closely related field.

2.  Have two (2) years paid work experience in the research, development and implementation of environmental programs, policies, operations and methods.
