The City of Commerce City has an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer-I position within the Department of Public Works. The City is looking for a creative, high energy, highly motivated and team oriented professional with a strong commitment to quality and service.
The Civil Engineer-I performs professional engineering work in one or more functional areas including project management, design, transportation, traffic, and construction. The Civil Engineer-I will assist in the delivery of complex transportation projects, prepare traffic engineering reports and studies, and manage and coordinate the traffic count program and traffic calming program. This is an entry level position in a job series. Teamwork, cooperation and communications are highly valued traits required for this position.

Qualifications: Generally a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required. Must possess an Engineer Intern (EI) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification or obtain within six months of employment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
