With a population of approximately 120,000, El Monte offers a mix of housing, employment and community amenities and is characterized by an ethnically diverse and dynamic population. The Public Works Department oversees the City of El Monte’s physical and environmental infrastructure systems and provides plan review and inspection for private development projects.
The Public Works Director is a member of the City’s Executive Management Team and reports directly to the City Manager. He/She supports the Sewer Committee and the Water Committee and enjoys frequent interface with the City Council. The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the principles and practices of public works construction, strategic management, planning, project scheduling and budgeting.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California; and at least 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including at least four years of supervisory and management experience.
