The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Traffic Engineering Professonal to be a key member of the City's Traffic Engineering team skilled in supervising traffic engineering activities, studies, investigations,and safety programs. This senior position will recommend and assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives; monitor work activities; recommend changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures; monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of traffic operations through the use of performance measures; manage projects as needed; solicit professional services.
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field required PLUS five (5) years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering studies and safety programs experience. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and AASHTO Manual for Geometric Designs of Highways and Streets is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with PTOE certification, municipal government experiece, transportation planning experience, traffic analysis tools proficiency, budget management, and community meeting experience.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, office management and supervisory experience, excellent communications skills both oral and written, and have experience in process improvements, program management, and performance measures.
Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is required. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer, within the State of Texas, within six (6) months of employment required.
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record required.
Preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position.
Field and office environment; exposure to computer screens and inclement weather conditions when conducting site inspections. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating assigned equipment.
